Susie Ques BBQ LLC

About Me

I’m a York Countian growing up in the City of York. I graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 2004. I’ve always had a strong drive to cook and barbecue my whole life, cooking as far back as I can remember in imaginary and toy kitchens. As I grew older, my passion for great-tasting food and the ability to create it only grew ever more as I was introduced to authentic Southern BBQ while traveling across the southern states on vacation. Bar-B-Que went from a passion to a job when I was hired by a local BBQ spot to help run the kitchens and pits. Upon receiving this job, I realized that passion was much larger than those walls, and that I wanted to do something that truly showcased what small-batch BBQ is all about.

So here we are, Susie Ques BBQ, named after my mom. The lady who gave me more than my life and my name, she gave me everything. This business is more than just food; it’s a Legacy, a tribute to an amazing woman. As moms tend to do, she poured all her love into her family; in turn, I pour my love into the food created here. Turning passion into inspiration and inspiration into amazing food.

Bar-B-Que is fueled by love and inspired by passion to bring together everyone, regardless of background or upbringing, to join in a few bites of food that touch the soul. Susie Que’s BBQ is all about bringing that southern hospitality right to your table. All our foods are homemade and family-inspired recipes that bring our family table right to you. Looks and smells are always free, so come on by and give us a try; we’ll do our best to show you a good time.

Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine is a traditional style of cooking that developed among German-speaking immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania during the 17th and 18th centuries. The word “Dutch” actually comes from “Deutsch,” meaning German. Influenced by groups such as the Pennsylvania Dutch and the Amish, the cuisine emphasizes hearty, homemade meals made from locally grown ingredients.

One of the most recognizable Pennsylvania Dutch dishes is shoofly pie, a sweet molasses pie with a crumb topping. It has a rich flavor and was traditionally eaten for breakfast with coffee. Another popular baked good is whoopie pies, a dessert made of two soft chocolate cakes filled with sweet cream frosting.

You can expect comfort foods that are central to Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.

Dishes like buttered noodles, mashed potatoes, and stewed vegetables reflect the cuisine’s focus on simple, filling ingredients.

Breads and pastries are another important part of Pennsylvania Dutch food culture. Fresh breads, sticky buns, apple dumplings, and fruit pies are staples at family gatherings and community markets. These foods reflect a tradition of baking that has been passed down for generations.

Southern food is more than flavors—meals are social glue: Sunday dinners, church potlucks, and family reunions. Recipes are often oral traditions, adapted and guarded by families, and they tell stories about history, survival, and celebration.

To taste the South is to taste history: resilience, hospitality, and a deep relationship with the land. Whether you prefer collard greens or fried chicken, Southern cooking invites sharing—one plate at a time.

You can expect Hamburger Steak, Fried Chicken, Turkey, Ham, Mashed Potato, Fried Okra, Soups, Salads, Green Beans, Filling and many Breakfasts items

Yaya's Cravings

About me... My name is Yatnaira, but since I was little my aunt Marie, one of the pillars of our family, called me Yayas, a name that today also represents my business in her honor. From a young age, cooking has been my great passion, a love first sparked by my grandmother Cutin who is no longer with us teaching me the basics and the importance of keeping our Puerto Rican traditions alive. My mother, in turn, has been my greatest inspiration in the kitchen, refining my skills and guiding me in the preparation of pasteles and many other traditional dishes. She has shared her secrets and techniques with me, ensuring that every creation captures those authentic flavors we all love. Although I hold a Master’s degree in Labor Relations and have spent nearly ten years working in Human Resources, cooking has always been my refuge, my source of inspiration, and my way of relieving stress. Every creation I make tells a story of family, love, and heritage, carrying with it the flavors and most cherished memories of my island.

Yaya’s Cravings was born out of nostalgia and a love for the authentic flavors of Puerto Rico. What started as a way to satisfy my own cravings after moving to Virginia in 2017, following the devastating Hurricane Maria, grew into a dream come true: a small business dedicated to sharing a piece of our island with everyone. We specialize in a variety of traditional desserts and treats, including our renowned tres leches, quesitos, guava pastries, polvorones, and almond moistened pound cake, perfect for all kinds of occasions. We also offer our famous pasteles wrapped in leaves, made exclusively by pre-order, with the homemade flavor and care that transport you straight to Abuela’s kitchen. More than a business, Yaya’s Cravings is a celebration of flavor, tradition, and the joy of sharing, because every creation is made with love, dedication, and the pride of representing Puerto Rico wherever we are.
