News release
Some of York County’s most stunning water gardens and ponds will be featured in “The Pond Experience,” a fundraiser for the Pennsylvania Arts Experience, scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
The self-guided, curated tour will include six beautiful aquatic gardens located in and around central York County. These beautiful sites were designed by local landscape designer Mark Willoughby whose company, Splash Supply, has been recognized as one of the best in the business having built water features as far away as Ireland and Mexico and at numerous places in-between including Epcot Center and the Omaha Zoo. It was Splash that suggested the idea of the tour to the Pennsylvania Arts Experience as a unique means of raising funds for the new organization. The Pennsylvania Arts Experience is a non-profit arts organization promoting the arts along the scenic river valleys of southeastern Pennsylvania. We are committed to establishing an internationally recognized arts destination by marketing a membership of creative artists and venues throughout the Artist Trail, our website, and regional Arts Orientation Centers. The Pennsylvania Arts Experience has helped energize downtown York with its ever changing array of exhibits featuring works by outstanding area artists. In addition, many of our programs specifically focus on education and exposing our community’s youth to all that the Arts have to offer through guided tours and community development.
At each of the stops on the tour, PA Art Experience member artists will be creating works of art which will featured in an exhibition and sale at the PAE Gallery in September. While most artists will be painting or drawing, others artistic mediums will also be on display. As an added bonus, guests will be treated to culinary specialties served by local food businesses as well as beautiful music played by local musicians at each of the sites in the tour.
Tickets for the tour are $10.00, children age ten and under are free. After July 19, tickets are $12.00 with all ticket proceeds going to the Pennsylvania Arts Experience. Tickets can be purchased at the Splash Supply, 4464 Lincoln Highway (near Hellam), at the Pennsylvania Arts Experience, 37 W Philadelphia Street and Central Market York or Kimman’s, 57 N Beaver Street in downtown York. For those who prefer not to drive and would rather be chauffeured to the various sites, chauffeured tour tickets are also available for $200 and can be purchased at Splash Supply. Advance reservations are suggested.
Directions to the sites will be available to those that purchase tickets and by keying in a password upon visiting SPLASH’s website at www.splashsupplyco.com.
